Comprehensive Eye Exams
Annual eye and vision examinations are an important part of preventive health care. Many eye and vision problems have no obvious signs or symptoms. As a result, individuals are often unaware that problems exist. Early diagnosis and treatment of eye and vision problems is important for maintaining good vision, ocular health and possibly preventing vision loss. We recommend a yearly dilated eye exam with an optometrist to screen for any eye disease which could cause you to lose your vision. Optometrists are also trained to optimize your vision with glasses and/or contact lenses.
Our comprehensive eye exam not only includes a refraction for new glasses but also involves a thorough dilated evaluation of the health of the eyes. For dilation, drops are instilled in the eyes to enlarge the pupils so our doctors have a more clear view into your eyes. These drops last approximately 4 hours and will typically blur your near vision. During this time you will also be more sensitive to bright light so be sure to wear your sunglasses when you leave.
